Singhs attack KINNG

August9

Another Friday, another big release – Singh is Kinng. I don’t know whether this movie will be liked by the audience or not, but I can surely say Guru Granth Sahib Satikaar Committee has already started to protest against some scenes or dialogues in the movie. The problem – as then newspaper says – is the portrayal of the Sikh community in an improper manner. Bollywood movies have always been the portrayal of the Indian society ever-since they started. Whether they depict the prestige of imported goods in 1960s or they portray the hard life a farmer led in 1970s or they describe a true reality in Rang De Basanti, they have always showed us various faces of the Indian Society.

But today, I deeply regret reading yet another headline telling us the methodology people are adopting to express their anger on these film producers. Smashing the cinema hall showing these movies is no way a decent community is expected to behave. And for a matter of fact, film producers had already shown the movie to Shiromani Gurwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) for approval. This was a pre-release activity so that un-accepted scenes & depictions can be removed from the movie. And after clearance of the movie, I think if there are any objectionable scenes, then it’s SGPC who is responsible & not the film producers. But I am not asking the Sikh community to go and smash SGPC’s office, but legal actions can always be taken & let law decide what has to be done.
Another such case that has been moving around since so many months is an un-respectful depiction of Manoj Kumar in Om Shanti Om. And SRK & his team promised to remove the scene, but nothing has been done till date & now the movie is all set for a WORLD PREMIER. But Manoj Kumar fans did not go and smash OSO production house. Instead, they chose to trust the Indian Law System.

Bollywood has seen many controversial movies like these (like Mangal pandey, Fanna, Ashoka etc ). But through proper channel & through proper research on the theme, one can produce a controversial movie without any controversies. According to me, Sarkar & Sarkar Raj could have been controversial, but they intelligently framed each and every frame escaping any pin-points from the audience. Or I could say, Big B was amazing in these movies that no one noticed any faults in the movie ;)

People learn from their mistakes, producers of Singh is Kinng will learn a lesson if they did make any mistake. And situations, time & experience does change the perspective from which a person views a problem. Things will change in future & may be this violence rate on each and every issue will slow down someday.

Now go & watch SINGH IS KINGG today, it’s a Saturday, enjoy the movie & decide for yourself if there is anything wrong in the movie.

    What Author state here is absolutely true & agreeable. But the situation is not that much worse as depicted in this article. There are many other issues which are more violent (like J&K etc). But yes, acts like these are unacceptable & something should be done regarding this.
    Overall a nice free flow of thoughts in this article.

    @Rashmi
    What you said is absolutely true that this issue is not much violent & a better option would have been to write about J&K etc.
    But I just wanted to point out, how people in INDIA get violent on such petty issues. It’s time we take a few examples from other nations because I KNOW WE ARE MOVING AHEAD OF THEM IN EVERY ASPECT !!!. So when we move ahead of them, we should be the ones setting examples for them & not vice-versa.
